Incentivise new mobility services to create a better city life

You can use Impact Markets to improve quality of life in your city by paying for the outcomes you want to see more of, attracting companies to reach them

Flexible and Iterative

Overcome annual budget constraints, by placing your funds into an independent foundation set up for mobility impacts. From here, you can fund projects based on outcomes, without locking yourself into a multi-year fixed budget relationship.

Impact focus

Understand what key impacts you create with each targeted subsidy. Are you reducing car trips, or ownership? More exercise? Based on the findings, fine-tune your subsidy to support more of the trips that benefit your city.

What experts are saying

Select expert opinions who work with public private collaboration and impact

At EIT Urban Mobility, we know that cities and public authorities face many challenges when it comes to procuring and financing the necessary solutions to meet their sustainable mobility goals. The Mobility Impact Market is an important tool and mechanism designed to allow cities to fund mobility services and to incentivize the delivery of these services where they will have the most impact.

Shared micromobility delivers positive impact on society, f.x. by help modal shift away from cars. Impact funding mechanisms (aka micro-subsidies) where cities pay an operator per trip can help boost our impact, in a flexible and cost efficient manner.

Any questions?

F.A.Q.

Mobility Impact Market is inspired by many live examples and pilots, and offers many new possibilities. With this concept, public authorities can support trips taken by different kind of services (even trips on self-owned vehicles) with a focus on vehicle, trip origination or destination, and time of the week.

Can the Impact Market help fund activities / companies that public authority wants to support?

What kind of mobility services can be supported through the Mobility Impact Fund?

What are the contractual relationships between mobility impact fund and public authorities and operators?

Where should the funding for such support come from?

How fast can a city set up this fund? What are the steps?

What if the city has already a tendered bike share, or permitted mobility services - how can the Impact Market work in that setting?

How can the Impact Markets help create availability of mobility options?

How can Impact Market help improve affordability of mobility options?

How to get started with this?

Vision

The aim with the impact market is to build a stronger and scalable welfare, by making it easier for public authorities to fund desirable outcomes.

In the long term, the goal is to link all products' and services' impacts on environment and society - both positive and negative - to their business, so that it becomes costly to run a business that is harmful, and more profitable for one that serves our identified needs.

Starting with mobility, and mobility impact market, we aim to make it easier for public authorities to steer business models through targeted, dynamic, iterative incentive schemes to serve societal goals.
